ANSEL ADAMS - A Brief Bio
To present images of Nature's wondrous design without some mention of the undisputed Master of Nature Photography, Ansel Adams, would be like telling a story starting at Chapter 2. We've all marveled at the breathtaking presence of his exquisite, artistic imagery at one time or another. To this day, those who are schooled in photography will generally agree that they practice their art quite humbly in the shadow of Ansel Adams.
The following is a brief biography of the Greatest Nature Photographer of all time:
Photographer & conservationist; Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco in 1902. For 30 years he was a commercial photographer who made breathtaking, visionary photos of the Western American landscape; photos that were inspired by a boyhood trip to Yosemite Valley in Central California. During the years 1944--58 he won three Guggenheim grants to photograph the national parks. Founding the f/64 group with Edward Weston in 1932, Ansel Adams developed zone exposure to get maximum tonal range from black-and-white film. He served on the Board of the Sierra Club from 1934 to 1971.
This gallery is dedicated, quite humbly, to the brilliant and visionary photographic artist, Ansel Adams. |
