The Digital Darkroom

In a traditional darkroom, you manipulate images through the use of films, papers, chemicals and processes. The digital version of a darkroom requires a computer and photo editing software. And just as the quality of the materials used in a traditional darkroom determine the quality of the final image, the quality of the digital software used also has an impact on the quality of resulting digital images.

A digital darkroom, however, has many advantages over the traditional method. It’s more efficient and much less timely. There is no prep time needed. Costs are much lower. And best of all, if you make mistakes, you can always resort to the undo command.

Photo-editing software offers a wide variety of ways to manipulate digital images. Sometimes photo-editing software can be used to "improve" an image by removing or reducing its flaws. In other cases it’s used to create an entirely new image, making it something it never was.

Though we make no claim at justme photography to be visual effects specialists, we still enjoyed playing around a little with Stacy's photos and hope you see something you like.
